An intraconference battle of unbeatens Saturday inevitably cost the Big Ten one top-10 team on Sunday, but the conference appears on the verge of gaining another, or two.
In Sunday’s new AP Poll, Wisconsin fell from No. 8 following Saturday’s 14-7 loss at No. 4 Michigan, but only three spots to just outside the top 10 at No. 11. The Wolverines remained fourth while Ohio State, with a 58-0 rout of Rutgers on Saturday, is still No. 2 with six first-place votes.
But Nebraska, undefeated at 5-0 and continuing its climb up the poll after starting the season unranked, is up three spots to No. 12 following Saturday’s 31-16 win over Illinois.
The Buckeyes next Saturday play a confident Indiana team fresh off beating Michigan State, which was No. 17 in the AP Poll but has since dropped out. Michigan plays at Rutgers, while the Badgers and the Cornhuskers have a bye.
Here’s the top 10 plus ranked Big Ten teams:
2. Ohio State
8. Texas A&M
10. Miami (Fla.)
