William Hill has released its odds for the 2017 NCAA Tournament and the betting service is much more in line with the selection committee than other gambling services, such as WestGate.
The favorite per William Hill is top overall seed Villanova, which has 7/1 odds to win the big dance. WestGate’s overall favorite was No. 2 seed Duke — which many believe had a strong case to be a No. 1 seed over archrival North Carolina.
The Tar Heels have 13/2 odds to win, while fellow 1 seeds Kansas and Gonzaga both have 15/2 odds to be the final team standing.
As for the teams with the longest odds, William Hill pegs Mount Saint Mary’s as the biggest underdog, with 2,500/1 odds.
As for the Big Ten teams, here’s how they opened, from most likely to least:
- Purdue: 40/1
- Minnesota: 50/1
- Michigan: 60/1
- Wisconsin: 60/1
- Maryland: 100/1
- Michigan State: 150/1
- Northwestern: 200/1
