Sporting News released its list of 2017 midseason All-Americans on Monday, and the Big Ten was represented well.
Four Big Ten players made the team, including three on the defensive side of the ball. Penn State running back and Heisman hopeful Saquon Barkley was the conference’s lone offensive representative. Meanwhile, Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa, Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell and Michigan linebacker Devin Bush were all on the defensive midseason All-America team.
The full list of Sporting News midseason All-Americans can be found here.
Here are some midseason stats for the four Big Ten honorees:
- Saquon Barkley: 649 rushing yards, 6.4 yards per carry, 395 receiving yards, 8 total touchdowns
- Nick Bosa: 18 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 4 sacks
- Josey Jewell: 68 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble
- Devin Bush: 48 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 5 sacks
Barkley and Jewell also made ESPN’s list of midseason All-Americans last week.
Most teams have hit the halfway point of their regular season by now, and these lists are a good idea of who will be in the running for All-America honors at the end of the season. But a lot can change in the next two months.
